once more, with feeling!

And once again I run out of yarn at work with an hour to go in my shift. I have the talent, oh yes I do.

This problem is further compounded by the fact that it is a Wednesday, and only one out of ten bloggers have decided to update. Which is cool, because I'm not the best at updating either (especially when I feel like I've bored you all to death with my project monogamy and snail's pace despite 6mm needles,) it just makes for a boring work day. Thankfully, there is a very exciting ninja verus piratepoll going on in my livejournal, which entertains me. Also, my orginal hypothesis is being supported so far (although ninjas are winning, which wouldn't support it, considering the sample population... but some people haven't voted yet.)

Progress on the jacket is slow, partly because I haven't had a lot of knitting time, and partly because the back seems enormous after 6 and a half inches and the weight kind of hurts my hands after awhile, but that's working with straights for you. I love my denises for their general handiness (yay I don't have to rush out and buy needles,) but if I have the size in bamboo straights, I will take the bamboo every time. And now my hands are like, "you suck." But that's life.

Ayyy.

So I finished up the front of the Cabaret Raglan, and here it is:

Yay.

(Edit: Oh man, did I do a k2tog where I should have done an ssk? I DID. And I'm NOT frogging back for it. I can't believe it.)

I was worried that the cabling on the front wouldn't really show up against the stockinette background, but it looks okay in the photo. I'm debating if I really want to start the sleeves right now (I don't feel like it!). So I'll probably do that later rather than sooner. I'm considering casting on for Hopeful, but I really ought to do those dang sleeves first... I wanted to wear Cabaret to work at least once, and since it's taken me a month to do the front and the back, it'll probably take not too terribly long to do the sleeves. But I just don't feel like it at the moment.

I'm also considering joining Secret Pal Six. Hmmm.

Hmm.

Last night, on coming home from work at ten pm (I know, it's terrible!), I decided I'd rather not go on the computer, but that I wanted to watch TV and knit. I wound up staying up until two watching VH1 (are we detecting a pattern here?) and "What Not to Wear".

Now, I dig "What Not to Wear". I want to be tapped as a bad dresser just so I can be given five grand and style lessons. Both of the women had some body issues -- the first one had lost fifty pounds and wasn't sure how to dress for her new body (she was also from Tacoma, which was amusing!), while the other was very uncomfortable with her body and wound up spending money the first day on new glasses and shoes (which I probably would do too) before Clinton and Stacy (Stacey?) went in to help her the second day.

But as I was knitting away on my Cabaret raglan while watching TV, I messed up and had to frog back. I already got to the decorative bit on the front, and then I screwed it up with THE WRONG DECREASES. I'm not very clever. So I bit the bullet and just frogged instead of tinking back.

I also didn't get onto the project I wanted at work, but I have been very good and have not given into retail therapy. Because, really, I'm not feeling sorry for myself; it more than likely came down to "who will be here to see this project through", and since I'll be leaving for Oregon in three weeks, it wasn't in the company's best interest to put me on the project just to have me leave.

a conversation at work

Co-worker: I mean, don't you want to hear him talk about Warcraft?
Me: If he does that, I'm going to start talking about knitting all of the time.
Co-worker: YOU TOTALLY SHOULD.
Me: "I think my next project will involve INTAAARSIA. Perhaps some cabling."
Co-worker: uhhh.
Me: "Perhaps some ENTRELAAAAC."
Co-worker: All I know about knitting is that it uses hooks and yarn.
Me: Needles, actually. Crochet is hooks, knitting is needles.

I actually haven't gotten any knitting accomplished since... Tuesday night, I think, when I was watching "Tommy Lee Goes to College" (aka Best Show Ever! it's also on VH1 tonight at 10). Because I've been busy working, dicking around online, or sleeping.

But who knows, maybe tonight I'll get some downtime...

One day, I will manage to pack the correct amount of knitting.

Right front of cabled jacket is done, finally. There was some more unknitting, but it is all in the past, because it is done. Now I am still at work with an hour left on my shift and no 8s to start the back with. Oh well.

I find this yarn fascinating, but I am not going to pay ten bucks for a pair of socks. Even if they are awesome sparkly socks. If I really wanted sparkly socks, I could just use the glitterspun I have. Ha, worsted weight acrylic socks. Riiight. I need to figure out something to do with that glitterspun in the stash though. Sale + Sparkles= What am I ever going to do with this yarn?

I am officially a sucker for shiny things, it's true.

woo!

I've been working overtime (although it was cancelled tonight, so that's a huge relief), and so I decided to take a hiatus from the computer. Instead I wound up watching VH1 (which I keep typing as HV1) and knitting away on the Cabaret raglan front. It actually was quite a nice little system; I think I'll do it again tonight (except I do want some computer time, too).

But I totally prepared for overtime by bringing the back, the front, the IK issue with the pattern, and the measuring tape (as well as Fruits Basket 1). Luckily it's all unnecessary for today, but who knows what tomorrow will bring...

I fail at life.

You know when you're making a project, and it's turning out nicely, and the yarn is good to work with and everything's going smoothly and rather fast all things considered? You know that, right? So you know what happens next?

Yeah. The ripping. The ripping of the mistake you have already made and ripped on this project. I forgot to start raglan decreases on the left front, no big. I was watching a movie, it happens. Come to the right front. I remember that I need to add in two extra rows before the raglan decreases, because of something that happened on the left front. No big. And then I just sail along in a fit of knitting, and before you know it? Yeah. I'm ripping back ten rows. I'm sort of annoyed at this point, more with the fact that I was at work and there isn't really any distraction to blame this mistake on than anything else. So I get all the stitches back on the needles, start off again, adding in the raglan decreases following the chart, and where am I decreasing? On the right hand side. As if I was making another left front.

I fail so hardcore right now.

this is the 51st post!

And only the third with pictures! Unfortunately, they're not all that interesting.

oooh, aaah.

The box full of Cotton-Ease. I still haven't opened it.

wilkommen bienvenue welcome

The back of the Cabaret raglan. No, it doesn't have any waist-shaping, it's just curled in on the sides.

yo, yo, yarnovers.

The decorative decrease. I didn't realize it happened on the back too. It's cute. Also, you may notice that I've got needles that are far too big on the end of the Denise cord. I had a bad experience with the stoppers (as in, one is permanently stuck on one of my cords), so needles it is!

The British yarns are coming!

The mini-Rowan explosion I have going on. The red is the Wool Cotton for Hopeful, the magenta-y is the Kid Classic for the Greek Pullover, and the warm beige is Kidsilk Haze for... I don't know what. I originally bought it for the Flower Basket shawl, then decided I'd rather do Madli's Shawl, and now I'm tempted to do either the Butterfly camisole or the River stole. Each of them calls for two. But really, since I have four balls, I could go for it and make the full-length Butterfly, which calls for four in my size. It looks a lot more like what I originally wanted Hush-Hush to be: something retro, elegant, in a neutral color...

Instead, this is what I got out of Hush-Hush:

auuugh
booo

Too big, too baggy, too much fabric, too much bra showing and ultimately too yellow for my skintone. BOO. I think the only way I could possibly salvage it to be wearable would be to rip back to the decreases, and add in additional decreases to the front and back. That would be, however, ripping back hundreds of rows of hundreds of stitches and that would just make me cry a lot, I think. But it could be done. If I was feeling particularly masochistic. Which I'm currently not.

takin' care of business

So I'm back on overtime at work (ten hours today -- I'll be in the office until eight pm!), and probably will be on it through the next week or two, unless I get moved to something else again (and I hope I will). But when a girl's going to be earning some extra moolah a week, what's she going to do?

She looks at eBay at the new Rowan yarns available. Oh, they are pretty. Sparkly Kidsilk Haze! Things on sale!

Alas, I have far too much yarn, Rowan or otherwise. (I've got Kid Classic, Kidsilk Haze, Wool Cotton, and leftovers of 4-ply Cotton and Calmer.) So I won't be buying anything.

Except maybe a pattern book or two.

owmyhandhurts.

This is the first time in awhile that my hand has hurt. And it's annoying that it chose now, when I am 36 rows away from finishing the left front of this cabled jacket thingy. The knitting is going surprisingly fast (well, no duh when you're using 10s,) despite having to rip back 10 rows last night after forgetting I had to start the raglan decreases. In my defense, I was watching the Royal Tenenbaums, and I always get distracted during that.

Other than the minor ripping and handhurting setbacks, progress is good. The yarn is still really nice to work with, and I'm contemplating getting some more and making a vneck. I'll probably swatch in stockenette (the one thing I haven't done on this project) after I finish this piece and make sure it isn't too chunky for what I have in mind. Not that I should be buying more yarn off the internet, when the stash is eating two boxes and I still have a gift certificate to Soft Horizons.

In seaming news, I have two sets of three seamed legs, and no desire to seam the last two. But I will bring them to snb next week where Paulo will make me seam them, because she has to seam her baby dress of doom, and therefore I must suffer too. Or maybe I should crack open a bad beer and then start seaming. That did make the Gryff sweater bearable in the late night seaming and finishing party we had. Ha. We'll see.

The box of C-E arrived on Tuesday as Lionbrand said it would, and I, in a great show of restraint, haven't even opened it. I don't want to.

Timewise, I think it should take two solid months of knitting on it to get it done. When I worked solidly on the Slytherin sweater, it took a little under four weeks to get it finished. When I worked solidly on the Slytherin scarf which, on reflection, will probably be a good indication of how much knitting it'll take (over six feet of 90 stitches in the round is roughly equivalent to over four and a half feet of... a good amount of stitches), it took over two weeks. So I should probably, at the very least, start in early January if I want to be sure I'll be done by late March. In short, I'll be working on it all of winter term. Not to mention the sewing I'll have to do too.

But I'm still working on the Cabaret raglan's front, just the slog of stockinette in the beginning. I worked on it at work yesterday (my office was locked in the morning so there was nothing I could do) and then while waiting for my ride to the county fair.

And that's about that.

Monday, August 15, 2005

I've finished the back of the Cabaret raglan and started on the front! My plan is to finish it before I start on Hopeful and the other projects, so I will have a nice big break from Candy Blue Cotton-Ease before I jump into the Sakuracon project by January. Yes, I bought the yarn now, but that's because I had the money for it and it's discontinued. And shipping will be iffy once I move into my new apartment. (Me to the landlady: "And... what about getting packages?" Landlady: "Well, you'll need to be here when they come, or go to the post office..." Me: "...")

I am slightly concerned that it will not have the charming wide neck of the picture, but I also don't want the loose tunic-y look, either. So far it looks like it will be close-fitting, hit me at the hip, and will be easily done with two and a half skeins, if that.

I still, uh, need to do the crochet finishing on my Vintage Camisole. But the problem is is that I'm always in a knitting mood, and not a finishing mood. I want to do something, but I don't want to crochet, I want to knit. So. (I also am not sure where my crochet hook went. It's somewhere around here.)

working hard, yet hardly working.

I haven't posted, have I?

Ergh. Last week was horrendously busy as I was working extra hours while they were training a new co-worker, and for some reason it was the week my social life exploded and I ceased to be a wallflower. Needless to say, not much got done.

But I do have a sleeve! A pretty, shiny, mulberry sleeve! And I've started the left front. I actually finished up the ribbing on that last Thursday or so, but I kept forgeting the larger needles so I couldn't start on the cabled bits. And now I've started, and am staring in horror at the cable chart going, "and I do what now? oh, I get it. But wait, that's not 57 stitches. What do I do for those other three? Crap, did I count wrong? I really don't want to start reversing these later. What am I doing?" and basically anything else I can possibly do to put off knitting from a chart. With the possible exception of knitting a sock.

Oh wait, I still haven't seamed anything yet, never mind.

But to lose all my senses, that is just so typically me.

If you recognize those lyrics, I'll give you a dollar out of sympathy.

Anyway, we did go out to Commuknity and we had an excellent time. There's something about people actually talking to their customers (typed: costumers), and big open spaces that are walker/wheelchair/crutches friendly (there was a lady on crutches, and Grandma had her walker), with lots of places to sit. (And for Calmer comparison: eleven dollars at Commuknity.)

And, if you're in a good mood, with a friendly atmosphere, you're more willing to buy. Which I did. I bought six balls of Rowan Wool Cotton in Rich to make Hopeful. There were a lot of pretty colors, but I already have blue, fuschia, and teal things lined up to knit.

I also enabled both my mom and my grandma. Grandma wanted to knit a throw, but since they're big, they're ambitious, they add up. So we ultimately figured that really, she just wanted to knit something, so why not a scarf for my cousin? We picked out two skeins of Silk Garden in really pretty colors (a new color I hadn't seen!), a circular needle in size 10, and she's good to go. Mom, on the other hand, has swiped my Crystal Palace 9s (the ones I used for Audrey) and so she bought me a Clover 9 to replace it; I'll be using it for my Calmer-sub jacket. When I get to that. And she also bought some Crystal Palace Kid Merino in a really pretty pink-green. Roses, actually.

And since there's always the issue of "who won": Mom won, followed by Grandma. I lost. ...Or did I?

I'll probably start up on Hopeful after I finish up the Cabaret sweater, which I've been working on off and on. I mean, I'm still on the back (bleh), but I haven't really been knitting much this past week, despite carrying it around with me the whole time, from work to the city to work to the movies to a bar to Half Moon Bay to San Jose and back again.

Oh, and hey, something to make with Cotton Fleece.

Labels:

Wow, okay.

So the yarn is still in transit. No new updates on UPS.com, but it should arrive on Tuesday, it says.

Yesterday we went out to Half Moon Bay for a day trip (actually, I don't really know why we went out to Half Moon Bay at all, but they were like "hey do you want to go" and I said "sure, there's a yarn store there"). And we went to the yarn store, Fengari. It was okay. Pricey. Calmer used to be my standard "price check" yarn because I did so much research on where to buy it -- some places it's eleven, some places it's twelve. Here it was thirteen. Although really I should have probably checked the Lamb's Pride. Plus everything was out of order and jumbled up, and there were boxes everywhere. Since we were with Grandma, who needs help walking either from one of us or a walker, it was pretty hard to navigate. And ultimately it was kind of disappointing, because they really didn't have anything I wanted that I couldn't find anywhere else for cheaper. Plus the service was kind of mediocre -- the girl was getting ready for her rehearsal dinner and there was a tuxedo crisis. We heard this all on the phone while she's behind the counter. I don't think I actually saw her help anyone or ring them up. So I don't know. If I happen to be in Half Moon Bay again, I'll probably stop by again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go.

But Grandma decided she wants to try knitting herself a big blanket for her living room (she used to knit wonderful intarsia and everything, but now she's blind in her right eye and has no peripheral vision in her left), but the yarn was too expensive at Fengari (not to mention it didn't match her house). So I said, "Well, hey, there's Commuknity in San Jose. It's big, well-lit, and easy to navigate. The prices are good, the ladies are really nice, and there are places to sit down."

So that's where we're probably going to be heading today. There's a book reading from two to four, so we want to get there before that happens.

My package is somewhere in the continental US. It left New Jersey (I am sorry, yarn, that you were in New Jersey to begin with) at 5 am Eastern, so it has gone a very long way already. Although they say it'll probably take another week to get here. I do like UPS tracking.

I did, however, do some sketching and some math for it, so I will have a rough idea of what I'm going to do. I also have to do swatching for it (I hate swatching!).

So there's the concept of "Laundry Outfits" -- what you wear when everything else is dirty. Mine also has to involve "covering Jeanne-is-lazy stubble". And today I was digging through my clothes and turning things down because I'd either worn them recently (they were at the top of the laundry, see, and actually got washed before the other things), and then I peeked in my second suitcase (where the sweaters live, etc.) and saw Audrey. At first I thought oh, no, I can't wear Audrey. Then I looked in the other and saw the pink camisole I wear under Audrey. And then I thought, "Well, why can't I wear Audrey? I knit it so that I could wear it, couldn't I?"

So I did. Hooray!

Also, we all finished our daily assignments by noon today, and didn't get new assignments until two (when I went to lunch), so I had two hours that were up for grabs. Thus I surfed the 'net and did some knitting (yay!). But I left my measuring tape at home after all of the measuring I did yesterday, so that was kind of dumb, until I realized that I could compare my knitting to the 8.5x11 notebook on my desk, and as it was not as long as the notebook, it was not long enough to worry about decreasing. Hooray again!

Yup. Boring times here.

Now, really I'm done.

Today I got a confirmation that my big box of C-E is on the way. This is good.

Yesterday I pulled back the Flower Basket shawl again because I just don't have the patience for it right now.

I also went to JoAnn's yesterday to dig around for orange C-E to knit something in support of the Giants. Unfortunately I'd forgotten that the orange C-E is traffic cone orange, which looks terrible on me. They were also out of black C-E anyway. They did have four skeins of Sugarplum, but they felt weird in comparison to the other C-E I've worked with (not as soft) and I didn't need it anyway (hello, big box of yarn en route to my house).

I did, however, wind up buying some Microspun so I can have a Giants stripey scarf/wrap thingie. I was considering making a tank top, but really, uh, San Francisco games require something a little more appropriate for weird weather changes than a tank top. So I'll make a ribbed wrap, once I actually feel like casting on with very splitty black yarn.

Here's that merino. I wanted to get the Baffin Sky. But oh man, the tiny gauge. The knitting forever. Thus the Cotton-Ease.

Plus the no-more-buying-yarn this summer.

To update with nothing or to have no update at all: that is the question.

Well, Paulo and I managed to make it to our local stitch n bitch last night, for the fourth week in a row. We're becoming regulars. As Paulo pointed out in her journal, "they're getting comfortable enough with [us] to act like knitters around us. In other words, dirty knitting night chattiness. Even the arrival of a preteen couldn't completely stem the flow of sex talk."

And then Paulo goes on and ruins that entry with libel and inflamatory remarks. For shame, wench!

In actual knitting content, I have started to seam a dinosaur! Three of the legs are ready for stuffing and attachment, and half the body is seamed. I forgot the skien of yarn, otherwise it would be done by now.

And the sleeve is going well. Only fourty two more rows! Then I should start on something with cabley bits. Woo, my second forray into cabling!

I'm going to stop now, because there are entirely too many exclaimation points in this entry already.

the opposite of enabling

So since no one decided to un-enable me, I went ahead and ordered the Cotton-Ease off of Lionbrand's site last night. It should be here in the next week or so. It should all be the same dyelot (hopefully), and there's a lot of it, so even if I don't end up using all of it, I can still use it/trade it/sell it. But really, if I'm going to be knitting something that big and that time-consuming, why not go ahead and use the bigger-gauge stuff?

Today I brought my knitting to the Giants game and, since they lost the last time I knit during a game, I decided to only work on it on the train, so I wouldn't jinx it by knitting during the game. And then they lost anyway (after a really good start by the pitcher they'd just pulled up from the minors to pitch against Roger frickin' Clemens). So my respecting-the-game-by-not-knitting? Did nothing. They still lost. (But if they ever decide to do a Stitch'n'Pitch day, I'm there.)

And, with that, my yarn-buying days of summer are over. I did, however, buy myself some new books (in Japanese).

so far, there have been no angels singing.

The Interweave Knits issues arrived yesterday while I was at work, and I didn't officially get home until 2 am (I went to a concert), so today I got to sit down with the Summer '04 IK and look through. I'd thought about doing Madli's Shawl, but dang, bobbles? I'm not too sure about those guys.

But I did start on the Cabaret Raglan in Candy Blue Cotton-Ease. I figure that I should be able to get the front, back, and two short sleeves out of three skeins of this. I started with the suggested needles, but it was going to be too big.

Here's the thing: the smallest size is a 36.5" bust. And in looking at it, it looks like it's got a lot of ease (and no waist shaping). Here's another thing: I don't do ease. Nope.

But Cotton-Ease is fine. Nothing extraordinary -- my wrists don't hurt while I'm knitting it, which is nice. The machine washing aspect is certainly something to look forward to.

There's only one small problem, though: Candy Blue? Perfect blue for the Sakuracon project. Would be the same price (if I buy it off of Lionbrand's website), with a bigger gauge, still machine-wash... and would still be plenty warm for Seattle. Hmmm. Hmmmm. Anyone want to talk me out of it? I'm going to walk away for a while and think about it, so give me your reasoning here.

These are the options so far:
- Fine-gauge cotton from Halcyon for 36 dollars
Plusses: Cheap!
Minuses: HEAVY. Also, FINE GAUGE COTTON. Will take FOREVER. Their shipping sucked with Hush-Hush's yarn.
- DK weight merino from Elann
Plusses: Merino! Machine-wash!
Minuses: Buying off the internet = not necessarily color I want. Small balls = more ends to weave in. Have to buy on Tuesday; limited supply (i.e. could be fighting with other people for it).
- Cotton-Ease
Plusses: Bigger gauge! Machine-wash!
Minuses: Have to order from Lionbrand to get a lot (otherwise could be fighting with other people for it off of eBay), could run out. Same price. Could be considered "cheap" as it's "fabric store yarn". (I've never really gotten over having a costume judged and the judge saying "oh, this is... lining fabric. and curtain lace.")

People? You've got until tonight, possibly tomorrow. DISCUSS.

What chart? The chart that doesn't exist?

I forgot to post, probably because nothing interesting has been happening. I'm up to the raglan decreases on my cabled jacket sleeve (now with less cables!) and I'm frustrated with this pattern, because while raglan decreases aren't hard to figure out, the pattern tells me to: "Dec 34 sts each side foll chart." There is no chart. At least, not for that. Unless they want me to follow the cable chart, but I'm not cabling, and there's not a place with no cables on that chart.

This pattern is weird.

So now I have to do some math, woot. Also known as the thing keeping me from finishing the Tempting sleeves.

Hmm, maybe the hate for the simple math will drive me to seam Mr. and Miss dinosaur, now that my friend Paulo has given me some stuffing. I had to let her molest my yarn in return, but it seems like a fair tradeoff.

It's all probably just wishful thinking. Like the thinking, "I will someday finish something and take pictures for the blog!" Yeah, you know it.

a small update

So the Flower Basket shawl is still pushed off in a bag somewhere, I'm still waiting on the Interweave Knits issues that're coming in the mail, and, yesterday, I decided to rip back the sock.

No, I don't know why either. I got it off the needles, put it on my foot, was surprised that it fit, then proceeded to rip it back. I tried casting on again numerous times (I think I was unhappy with the cast on/ribbing, and that's why I pulled it back), got frustrated, decided to try it again when I got home because there I would have scrap yarn, a crochet hook, and the Knitter's Book of Finishing Techniques. I thought I might try the tubular cast on, because, hey, it's stretchy. But it was FIDDLY.

Ultimately I said "to hell with it" and did a long-tail cast-on onto a larger needle (size 2, for knitting with size 1s).

Other things I could have been working on: casting on for the cabled jacket (but my mom has the needle I need for the main body, so really all I could have done would be ribbing and that would be lame), Orangina (I can't take it to work/play because it's a POUND CONE OF YARN without swapping to a different purse), Hush-Hush (which is still being punished), tinking back the Flower Basket Shawl (but I didn't want to!), the Greek Pullover (fiddly increases, ugh)... but instead, the sock.

At least in its short life it got to encounter greatness like Lou Seal and a balloon monkey.

Plus I'm going to a Giants game on Sunday. It just may see Lou Seal or some balloon creature again.

some things that make me cranky

1. Yesterday the Yarn Harlot was in Berkeley. Her reading started at five pm. Where was I at five pm? Oh, that's right, I was at work until seven last night. Tonight she's in Portland. Where will I be? Oh, that's right, at work. Until seven.

2. I made a mistake somewhere on the Flower Basket shawl (again) and it requires tinking back too many stitches so I got frustrated and put it (and the pattern pages) in a bag with the ripped-out-again Habu (didn't want to bother counting again). I'll figure out something with that Habu yet, just... not yet. So I picked up Orangina again and have been working on that.

3. Okay, this isn't really cranky-inducing, but. I ordered the Summer '04 Interweave Knits in mid-July (I made my Paypal payment on the 10th) and it hadn't come, so yesterday I e-mailed Interweave's customer service and asked if I'd forgotten to include the invoice number or something. Turns out they'd misplaced my payment info or something, and so they're sending it out today... along with a free copy of the Fall '05 IK. Which I already have. So now I'll have two. Unless someone wants/needs one.

4. The merino isn't showing up on the Elann preview, which I guess is a good thing because I (and everyone else who gets a newsletter) know about it, while the internet masses may not necessarily know. This is both a good and a bad thing, because I can't point and say "look, that blue is perfect!" to someone who is doubtful about the merino, yet no one else can point and say "look, that blue is perfect!" I am also concerned that the merino purchase may very well tip me over into the "guess what, you get fifty dollars worth of Elann stuff for free now!" category. That category only comes up in special circumstances which we do not want to mention.

But I get to go to a concert on Friday after work, and that makes me happy, so hooray for getting to go somewhere and DO something.

Blogger was down yesterday. What's up with that?

I worked on the shawl yesterday and got it to a point where I think it's actually too big to take to work now (starting the fourth repeat of lace). So the sock is back at work.

Anyway, I have made a big decision, and this is what it is: When I get back to Eugene, I am frogging Rogue.

Hear me out. I don't do the Celtic cable thing. It never really occurred to me until I saw the new design from GirlFromAuntie, and I was like "huh, that's nice, but I just don't wear that stuff." And, on really thinking about it, I don't.

But I do want to use that Baghdad Blue, because it's an awesome color. So I'll frog it, rewind it, and make a top-down raglan cardigan. Because that's really what I need, much more than a Celtic cable hooded pullover. I need cardigans. I don't need Celtic cables.

Unfinished Business

I don't want to talk about it. No, guys, seriously. Procrastination has reared its ugly head again, and I have a tank top that is an inch of straps from being blocked and seamed, a bag that has a few more rows from being felted, and two dinosaurs that need seaming and stuffing.

Did I do anything with those? Did I think about those before I cast on for my cabled jacket sleeve? No. No I did not. I'm currently about five inches of ribbing into a sleeve. A sleeve which I modified to take out the cabled bit (there's just like a little armband of cable in the middle of the arm that I thought was odd, so it's just ribby now, because dude. It looked weird. And the cable chart kind of confuses me.) A sleeve of 2x2 rib. You know what else has sleeves of 2x2 rib? TEMPTING.

A long sleeved Tempting that has been waiting for sleeves since May.

I suck at life.
